Slashing the List: The Spiral Jetty

I know people who are Utah natives who have lived here their entire lives and have never visited the Great Salt Lake.

I also sat next to a man on an airplane who didn't realize that Salt Lake City was named after an actual large salty lake that sits west of the city.

Shame on both groups.

It really is a beautiful place (minus the bugs). And I love how it looks so different at different times of the day and during different seasons.

But while I have visited Antelope Island several times, I had never made my way to the Spiral Jetty until Tuesday.

And it's a LOOOOOONG way out there. A very long way. So much so that it's just you and the cows. And maybe a flock of pelicans or two. And you think that you are almost done driving on that dirt road only to find that you still have a ways to go.

But it really is worth the trip.

And grabbing a burger, fries, and chocolate malt at the Burger Bar in Roy guarantees a truly Utah experience.

I don't know if you know this, but I used to work at Burger Bar. But not at the one in Roy (there used to be a location in Layton).

I'm now craving a Big Ben and a strawberry oreo shake...

Does going to Saltair count? I haven't been to this, but it is on my list. Also - did you take these pics because they are great!

Yep, those pictures are all mine, Greg. And you need to at least get your butt to Antelope Island.
