As I do most General Conference Saturdays, I cleaned and cleaned my little apartment as I listened. This listening/viewing while cleaning is a tricky balance given that I would find myself mid wipe or sweep, stopping and listening to a particularly good point, and forget what had already been wiped or swept. I went through piles of papers and tore pages out of old magazines and tidied up what has been the last couple of weeks that I've been traveling.
And it felt good.
Fast forward to Tuesday. I had emailed my three friends about how I received our concert tickets to Arcade Fire from a 3rd party as to avoid Smith Tix's ridiculous (and exorbitant) fees. And we had good seats. And I went to go find the tickets to let them know the name of the opening band.
But the tickets were gone.
Instantly, my memory flashed on the moment I threw the FedEx envelope in the trash bag, believing that I had pulled the tickets out and placed them somewhere "safe." Trash was collected on Monday. I was screwed.
And then I panicked. And then I got mad. I may have even cried.
And then I sent a very honest email to the ticket guy that said something along the lines of "I was stupid and threw our tickets away. I realize that it's a long shot, but can you help?"
Against all probability, this ticket guy pulled through and went above and beyond by not only calling the ticket office, placing tickets at Will Call, but also he emailed me a permission letter plus a copy of his I.D. I could have kissed that ticket man on the mouth! We joked that we should at least send him cookies or some soup because he truly made last night a reality. It's amazing how excited I can get about exceptional customer service.
And oh! That concert was so worth it. So. So. So! I don't think I would have ever forgiven myself if I (and my 3 friends) had missed it.
Just proving that dreams do come true.

I am so glad that scalper came through for you!
Amazing concert and incredible story about the tickets! Speaking of things we throw away in FedEx envelopes, I once did this with a check for a million dollars; it might sound like an exaggeration, but it isn't. I worked at an investment firm where our investors wired their funds and FedEx-ed their subscription docs. One dude (old fella) decided to send it all in one big packet...I took out the documents and threw away the envelope. Luckily, we realized the error before I had a chance to take out the garbage. Crisis averted!
