Bad Lands
So in addition to Mt. Rushmore, we explored a bit more of the Black Hills and the surrounding area, including Wall Drug where I "rode" a jackalope.
Since we spent a lot of time in the car, I spent a lot of the time looking at the prairie and thinking about Laura Ingalls Wilder and Willa Cather. Once we returned home, I picked up a copy of O Pioneers! and gave it a read. I liked it.
And then, we saw the Badlands.
And it looked rather reminiscent of stuff in Southern Utah, but not nearly as cool looking.
And now that I've seen this part of the country, I'm not sure I have need to ever go back. Once one lives among the Rocky Mountains, it's hard to get too excited about some hills.
But I guess dinosaurs are pretty neat.
And I can't seem to ever get enough of all that big sky and clouds.
Especially now that I'm back in the land o' smog.
